Mike Jones

Mike is an experienced leader, organisational psychologist and speaker who understands the need to unlock the potential of leaders, teams and organisations to overcome the complexity and volatility of modern business. Mike’s leadership skills and knowledge are grounded in an 18-year career in the British Army, where he served several tours of Afghanistan and Iraq, leading troops in very complex and hostile environments. It was this experience that gave a real understanding that only when your people are empowered, engaged, and aligned around a clear mission can your team achieve its full potential. While serving, Mike had the honour to be selected as a Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Instructor, where he taught leadership to the next generation of military leaders at the world's most respected leadership academy. These experiences, accompanied by his studies to become an organisational psychologist, have given him an exceptional background in leadership, strategy and creating the right cultural environments for people, teams and organisations to thrive.

Andrew Gill

Andrew is focused on personal growth of both individuals and organisations and fully commits to being part of an individual or team’s movement towards the outcomes they want to achieve.   He utilises his experience of operational flying in the RAF and over 10 years coaching and mentoring the future leaders of the RAF as well as operating as a highly trained covert soldier under intense pressure, developing his awareness, capabilities and knowledge. Adjusting to living with a life impacting illness, which curtailed his military career, was when Andrew truly learned to harness his understanding, expertise and processes which he passes onto those around him. It is with this unique blend of experiential knowledge that he is able to offer proven methods from an empathetic perspective.

You could have heard a pin drop in a room full of over 70 people when Mike gave a talk at our Senior Leadership Forum. His experience and story telling left many inspired that day, and months later I still get compliments about how amazing he was and the impact he had on individuals.

I sought support from LBI to help me to better understand our organisational culture and leadership capabilities. The diagnostic activity that Mike and his team undertook was incredibly insightful and we continued to work together to implement the interventions identified. I found LBI to be a superb organisation to work within both in terms of their expertise and the service they provide. Their work has helped us to become a higher-performing team and create a culture where people can deliver the best work of their careers.

I found Michael’s sessions really assisted my development as a player. Listening to his personal experiences discovering leadership as a soldier, it altered my playing perspective and made me become more confident. After he explained different theories it made me evaluate my mental attitude as an athlete off the pitch. However, he also made me evaluate my performance on the pitch by reviewing and reflecting performance. This means I can develop my leadership skills and ultimately become a better player and leader.

  • James Cooper - Head of Performance Pathway
Michael ran a successful culture and leadership development programme for the Talent Development Group and the insight it gave to all was invaluable. He challenged perceived norms and showed other ways to develop both on and off the pitch which will help improve both individual and team performance. I can't recommend him highly enough and look forward to continuing working with him in the future.
